VIDEO Spotlight: Dance For You by Beyonce

Although not a big fan of Beyonce, I do admire her talent and success. One can not deny that yes, she is by far one of the top 5 triple threats in the entertainment business (singing, dancing, and acting). However, in my opinion she can't touch Janet Jackson, Madonna or even Cher in these categories. Her singing is overrated, her dancing is seductive and her acting is just mediocore. However, her drive as an entertainer is commanding with great discipline and her creativity as a music producer and writer is effortless as she pens hit after hit of girl-power anthems. What I love about the "Dance For You" video is it appeals to the grown and sexy woman who knows what she wants and not afraid to show it. The song showcases Beyonce's evolution as a writer to appeal to a more mature audience. I grew up listening to Destiny's Child and watched as each artist developed their own solo careers. So although Beyonce has a strong fan base of 18-24, B is 30 years old and reaching a new level of personal success in her life. She is a wife now to rap mogul Jay-Z and soon-to-be mother. She deserves to be commended no matter how indifferent I or others may feel about her talent. You "can't knock the hustle" (as stated best by Jay-Z). Beyonce is a go-getter and this is the side of "Sasha Fierce" I like.

Worship Wednesdays - "In The Middle" by Isaac Carree

Don't wait til Sunday to get your praise on people. Hump day is here and Isaac Carree wants you to know that you can praise Him "In The Middle" of the week, on the job even if you have no food to eat! The former member of gospel group Men of Standard and John P. Kee singer will be releasing his highly anticipated solo album "Uncommon Me" sometime this year. In a class by himself, his musical style may draw some comparison to gospel's wonder boy Deitrick Haddon. So clap your hands, do your dance cause this gospel hit will lift your spirits, get you moving and snapping your fingers. So despite your situation, stay encouraged and praise Him anyway!

Stay Blessed,

Let's Hear It For The Boy (VIDEO)

After watching the NBA on NBC this afternoon, I had to give it up to all the guys for playing so hard. After the Bulls beat the Magic by the skin of their teeth in the 4th quarter (thanks to my boy Derrick Rose) and the pitiful loss by the Celtics to the Heat in today's doubleheader, all I could say is "let's hear for the boy(s)". The Celtics & Rondo failed to make a comeback in the 4th quarter after a short 11-0 run and was blown out in the end 77-100. Well the playoffs start next Saturday so for all that you guys do to entertain fans like me, GOOD LUCK. Here's my tribute to you: Music Video by Deniece Williams - Let's Hear It For The Boy!

CD Pick of The Week

Don't sleep on Uncle Charlie! The man still got it. His voice is timeless and he is putting some of these young so-called R&B cats to bed (we won't mention any names…lol). With Valentine's Day right around the corner, guys this will definitely get your ladies in the mood. On the new CD "Just Charlie" I couldn't help but to enjoy the sweet lyrics Charlie Wilson belts out throughout the entire album. The first single “You Are” I predict will be one of the top wedding songs played this summer. The classic remake of “I Want to Be Your Man” with Fantasia holds its own but the original is better and the up-tempo track “Life of The Party” is one my favorites. Overall, the album is a charmer. One could only imagine he dedicated this album to his wife (after his recovery from prostate cancer) because the underlying testimony of love I believe surely influenced his creative process. This is definitely for the Grown & Sexy. You won't be disappointed!
